Which districts are suitable for ‘small capacity pumps’?

1 HP and sub-HP pumps could help marginal farmers meet their needs and could also be put to use for lift irrigation, provided there is access to surface water. The tool filters all districts where ‘Area under horticulture crops as a share of gross cropped area percentile’ is greater than 50%. This ensures higher revenue for farmers and higher capacity utilisation of solar pumps. The tool also filters all districts where ‘Score on Water Scarcity Index‘ is greater than 0.75. This determines long term economic viability. 

Additionally, the tool filters all districts where the ‘Proportion of marginal farmers’ is greater than 50%. This ensures that the biggest takers and beneficiaries of small-sized pumps. Finally, the tool filters all districts where the ‘Medium and long-term credit disbursed to marginal farmers in a year (INR) percentile‘ is greater than 50%. The higher access to credit enhances the likelihood of investment.
